Green Daal (Parippu Curry)

1 Green gram dal (peeled yellow) 1 cup
2 Garlic 3 or 4 flackes Peel and crush
3 Curry Leaves Small bunch  
4 Turmeric Powder 1/2 teaspoon
5 Salt To taste
6 Oil 1 tablespoons
7 Cumin Seeds 1/2 teaspoon
8 Mustard Seeds A Pinch
9 Coconut 1/2 cup Grated
10 Red Chilli 1 or 2
Preparation
  1. Cook dal till soft, with water.
  2. Grind turmeric powder, grated coconut, and cumin seed, to fine paste.
  3. Add the ground paste, and salt into the dal and boil. Simmer till it assimilates, adding little water if it gets too thick. Remove from heat.
  4. In a small pan heat a tablespoon of oil, put some mustard seeds, when they start sputtering, add red chilli, and the curry leaves, fry them, and them pour over the dal.
  5. Serve hot rice.
