Daal Fry

1 Tuvar Dal 1 cup
2 Garlic 3 or 4 flackes Peel and crush
3 Curry Leaves Small bunch  
4 Asafoetida Powder A pinch
5 Red Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon  
6 Turmeric Powder 1/4 teaspoon
7 Coriander Powder 1 teaspoon
13 Salt To taste
14 Oil 1 tablespoons
18 Cumin Seeds 1/2 teaspoon Cook with little turmeric powder
19 Mustard Seeds A Pinch
Preparation
  1. Cook dal till soft, with water.
  2. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook in an open vessel. Simmer till it assimilates, adding little water if it gets too thick. Remove from heat.
  3. In a small pan heat a tablespoon of oil, put some mustard seeds, when they start sputtering, add asafoetida powder, cumin seeds, and the curry leaves, fry them, and them pour over the dal.
  4. Serve hot rice.
